Services of a registered nurse are available on a daily basis.  Nurses and teachers are to provide only remedial first aid.  In addition to treating minor injuries, the nurse determines if a child should be sent home because of illness or contagious disease.

If a child needs to take medication of any nature, such as aspirin, Tylenol, antibiotics, etc., the parent/guardian must get a physician’s order.  Medication must be brought in by the parent/guardian in their original container.  The physician order forms can be obtained from the school office and are also located on the sidebar to the right.

In addition, the school nurse conducts vision screenings on students throughout various grade levels.

Although we have stated the importance of regular school attendance, it is not to be interpreted as to send a child to school when they are ill.  If a child has a fever or has been vomiting, the child should stay home for 24 hours after she/he has recovered.
Consider keeping your child at home if he/she:
Has a fever of 100.4 degrees or higher
Has been vomiting
Has symptoms that prevent him/her from participating in school such as:
Excessive tiredness or lack of appetite
   Productive coughing, sneezing
   Headache, body aches, earache
Sore throat

Keep your child home until his or her fever has been gone for 24 hours without medication.  Colds can be contagious for at least 48 hours.  Returning to school too soon may slow the recovery process and expose others unnecessarily to illness.
